Seasonal Resources
Vermont 211 provides information about seasonal resources in its database. Whether you are searching for fuel assistance, holiday resources, or free tax preparation, we can refer you to services in your region. There are many helpful resources listed in our Community Resource Directory.
Take advantage of all that our Directory has to offer. Do not hesitate to contact us with any questions about seasonal resources.
Vermont's summers have gotten warmer, with some days of extremely high temperatures for Northern New England. Exposure to high heat can cause serious health problems, including heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To find a place to get away from the heat, the Vermont Department of Health has created an online map of cooling sites around the state. Visit their Hot Weather site.
Vermont’s Seasonal Fuel Assistance Program can help pay part of your home heating bills whether you own your home or rent; pay for heat directly or as part of rent; rent a room in someone's home; or live in public, subsidized, or Section 8 housing - even if your rent includes the cost of heat. There is no resource test. Apply Now: Click here or dial 211 for eligibility and application information.
If you have a heating crisis during the winter, Crisis Fuel may be able to help. The Crisis Fuel Program operates from the last Monday in November until the second or the last Friday in April, depending on type of fuel or until funds are exhausted.
In addition, there is an Emergency Heating System program to help repair or replace heating system equipment that is not functioning. That program starts November 1. Contact your regional Community Action Agency. You can find their information here.
Vermont 211 partners with the Vermont Department of Health to help provide public information about Seasonal Flu and COVID-19 vaccinations. To locate a flu clinic in your area, please dial 211 or go to https://www.vaccines.gov/. COVID-19 vaccination information can be found here.
Contact your pharmacy or doctor's office directly for details on available vaccines and scheduling. To find pharmacies that offer flu, Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and/or COVID-19 vaccines, search here.
Don't have health insurance? Reach out to your Local Health Office to get a flu shot. Local Health Office offers monthly immunization clinics at no charge for people who are under 65 years old and uninsured, experiencing significant barriers to access, or a patient of a medical practice that cannot receive vaccine from the Vermont Vaccines for Children & Adults program.
For information about flu activity in Vermont, click on Vermont Department of Health; or for nationwide information, click on U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
